As Jonah came close to death (or perhaps died), he is faced with the consequences of his own choices. His emotions are confused and he loses sight of the truth. But when he calls to God, he still finds more mercy than he deserves. Ironic for a specially-chosen prophet of God - who finds himself wondering if he still deserves God’s grace and forgiveness.
