Megane's Broken Leg
Megane was delighted to get a trampoline in our backyard. She has a lot of gymnastic talent and she used it several times a day for the first 2 weeks that we had it. And she planned an overnight with school friends to sort of “inaugurate” it.
They had a great evening and overnight, taking turns on the trampoline. But near the end of the evening, Megane came in the house with a look of PAIN on her face. She usually has a pretty high pain tolerance, so she assumed it was a bad sprain - and it was already swelling. (Most books say a break doesn’t really swell, right?!)
The next day, it was no better and she was in a lot of pain - so after an airport run (to send Tom off to the US and to pick up Anne for her summer in Birmingham) MaryAnn took her to the fracture clinic. Sure enough - clean break of the small bone in her right leg.
She has been very brave with all the pain. She has a purple cast (the photo above is not Megane’s leg), about which she was very excited! And she’ll get a checkup next week to see how it is healing. She no longer has any pain; now it is just a question of sitting still enough to let it heal.
